Supporting Stanford Students

The Parents' Club of Stanford offers direct support to students in a variety of ways.

Bicycle Refurbishment Program

The Club collects donated bikes, refurbishes them, and gives them to FLI students in need of transportation.

Annual Textbook  &  Tools Drive

At the end of the school year, the Parents' Club collects donated textbooks and classroom tools such as iClickers for Stanford's FLIbrary-a lending library for under-resourced students managed by Stanford's First-Generation/Low Income(FLI) Office. The FLI Office accepts these items year-round: students can drop off their donations in the FLI lounge on the second floor of Old Union.

Annual FREEcycling Program

During June move-out, the Parents' Club collects gently-used dorm and school supplies donated by the students. These items are passed out in September to incoming First-Generation/Low-Income  (FLI)  freshman.

Fostering Connections Mentoring Programs

Parent volunteers mentor Stanford students from foster care and similar backgrounds who opt to be matched with a parent-mentor.

Mother's Day/Father's Day Cards

Students can have their photo taken by a club volunteer and write a personal message on a unique Stanford-themed card. We then assemble and mail the personalized photo-cards in time for Mother's and Father's Day, all compliments of the Stanford Parents' Club.

Holiday Dinner Programs

Holidays can be lonely for students unable to return home due to financial, visa, or other reasons.  In November, interested students are matched with local parents who invite students to join their families' Thanksgiving Dinner gatherings. During Winter break, the Parents' Club provides bi-weekly group dinners to bring some cheer and build community among students.

During this pandemic, several of the above the programs are on hiatus because of social distancing guidelines, shelter-in-place restrictions, and limitations on the Club's presence on the Stanford campus. However, our Fostering Connections Program, a modified Bike Refurbishment Program, and our Scholarship support continue. We look forward to resuming all of our programs as soon as it is safe to do so.

If you would like to volunteer your time and talent to support any of the above programs, please email :  parentsclub.stanford@gmail.com
